It’s the time of year here at JS Reakes…

This festive season, we are celebrating our team, our work, and our growth. With a mince pie and mulled cider of course!

Celebrating our team

As of October, our resident arbitrator, Jon, has officially become a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. That’s Jon FCIArb, to you!

Our Media and PR officer Meg completed her bachelor’s degree (with honours) in Public Relations and Communications from the University of Lincoln! She’s been putting her expertise to good use this year.

Our director, Jill is the backbone of JS Reakes (without her, it all comes down), and she has done an amazing job of growing the team and business this year.

We welcomed Will and Alexia onto the team this year. Will has been supporting our business’ operations and has been hands on with learning the ins and outs of what we do. We are delighted to have Alexia’s expertise and support with analytics and copywriting.

This year sadly, our much-loved family dog and business’ mascot, Corey, passed away at 15 years old. A life of chasing squirrels in fields, hating baths after a muddy walk, and being a constant presence at the heart of the home, he is sorely missed.

Celebrating our work

From successful sales to workshop events to hosting CPD training, our small team has achieved a lot this year.

This November, our contribution to the annual Sleep Out raised £502 (beating our £400 target!). The event was by Independent People 1625, and the Sleep Out raised a whopping £14.6K overall. We strive to do our bit every year by supporting a local charity, and Independent People 1625 make a positive difference for young people experiencing and at risk of homelessness in Bristol.

Otherwise, it’s business as usual at JS Reakes. Stay tuned next year as we have big website updates in store! New year, new us! In that same vein, if you are interested in getting your lease renewals or rent reviews done in the new year, you know where to find us. We’re here for your dispute resolutions too.

It wouldn’t be a wrap up of the year without acknowledging our clients, readers, and subscribers.

• This year, you loved our article “What is market value and market rent?”. Your clicks made it our top read article of the year!
• This was followed by an oldie but a goodie, “Correct adjusted net profit, how to calculate it”, from 2020.
• “The Nightlife Industry, Three Years On from COVID-19” was the third contender in number of views.
• “Business Valuation – Profit and Multipliers” came in as our fourth most read. An article from 2023 that is essential reading for valuing your business.
• And last but not least, “Office Spaces, Three Years On from COVID-19” was our fifth most read article of 2024.

It’s been a good year for us, and we couldn’t have been so successful without you!
